Autodesk® Revit® MEP Fundamentals is intended to introduce students to the software’s user interface and the basic HVAC, electrical, and piping/plumbing components that make the Autodesk Revit software a powerful and flexible engineering modeling tool.


This training guide introduces the fundamental skills in learning the Autodesk Revit MEP software. It is highly recommended that students have experience and knowledge in MEP engineering and its terminology.


  1. The students are able to:
    • Understand the purpose of BIM and how it is applied in the Autodesk Revit software;
    • Navigate the workspace and interface;
    • Work with basic drawing and editing tools; and
  2. The students are able to:
    • Set-up the view display, elevations, sections, and callouts
    • Create 3D HVAC model with mechanical equipment, air terminals, ducts;
    • Create spaces and zones, needed for the analysis of;
    • Heating and cooling loads necessary for the HVAC design
  3. The students are able to:
    • Create 3D plumbing model with fixtures, pipes, and fire protection model
  4. The students are able to:
    • Create electrical systems with components and conduits
    • Create or generate panel schedule based from the 3D electrical system model
  5. The students are able to:
    • Create construction documentation from the 3D model with title blocks, annotations, and other detail drawings
