Course Description

This course is designed to equip first-time leaders with people management principles and practices, focusing on skills and competences, paradigm and mindsets, and best practices that will enhance personal and organizational performance. It will highlight effective people management skills, such as building trust, employee engagement, feedback and motivation, and team resiliency, which are necessary to optimize employee performance toward achievement of departmental goals. People management skills will also be complemented with goal setting techniques and strategies, to ensure successful first-time personal and organizational leadership.

ENTRY COMPETENCIES of Participants (Prerequisites):

Communication, Technical-specific knowledge/business acumen, Critical thinking

Course Objectives: This course intends to:

  1. Discuss principles and value of people management.
  2. Discuss and demonstrate best practices in people management in a variety of context.
  3. Discuss how fostering positive social relationships enhances department efficiency, including mentoring, communication, and providing feedback.
  4. Introduce techniques in creating a people management plan.
