They would like to use English in a greater number of situations, and improve their fluency and confidence in using the language.

Introduction to Mandarin 1
Introductory Mandarin I is an introductory course for students in Mandarin and Chinese culture. Though the course is conversational in nature, students are introduced to Hanyu pinyin and simplified Chinese characters, thus, allowing them to read and write in language as well. Chinese culture is integrated through the thematic units, media selections, and assessment tasks in the course, all meant to enrich student learning and appreciation of the language and the culture embedded in it.

Introduction to Mandarin 2
Introductory Mandarin 2 is the second introductory course for students in Mandarin and Chinese culture. The course continues to use simplified characters and Hanyu pinyin to further develop communication skills in Mandarin. Investigations of Chinese culture is meant to enrich student learning and appreciation of the language.
